Things to do This Summer

  Hi Everyone!

So, I watched a video on Youtube this morning and somebody on there really inspired me to do something. He made a list of 25 things to do this summer, but not just a boring, ordinary list. He got a small journal and gave each thing a page, and when he accomplishes one of those things he documents it.
I decided to give it a shot. I'm terrible at completing to-do lists so we'll see how this goes. As a shy person, I tend to be very laid back and not do things that are out of my comfort zone. My list is pretty basic and easy things to accomplish. Most everyone will tell you to keep it simple especially when you have a difficult time completing things like these. I'm not going to tell you everything that's on my list because its personal and I want to keep that to myself. I want to document as many as I can by taking a picture of me doing it or something completed. This is going to be quite a challenge, but they're not impossible. I need to remember that I'm the only one that is preventing myself from doing things like this. I don't know how I'm gonna stay motivated, but if you have any helpful tips in this area PLEASE let me know in the comments.

1- Get my permit and driver's license. You might as well know, I don't have either of these yet. I was going to keep that a personal thing, but I'll share it. Maybe it will give me more of a drive to get it done knowing you guys know that.

2- Complete 2 sewing projects. I have not done a sewing project for a very long time and its about time I did.

3- Complete 2 crocheting projects. I'm more excited about this one. I like to crochet a lot.

4- Read 2-3 books. As I said in an earlier post, I do not like reading. So, to me this is really pushing it. This is definitely going to be one of the harder ones for me to do.

5- Get outside and get some sun as often as possible.

6- Try something new (Hopefully something fun). Very broad, I know. But that leaves me to maybe try something spur the moment instead of having something specific planned out. Less pressure.

7- Learn healthier cooking recipes. Why is it so hard to choose healthier foods?! Why do we crave junk like pizza, cookies, cake, candy, ice cream, soda, etc.?! No, I've gone off of soda for about a month now and it was a lot easier than I thought it was gonna be. Praise God!

8- Get some white lights to decorate my room with. Like Christmas lights, but white wires instead of green. I've always wanted some so I'm gonna do it!

  9- Exercise regularly.

10- Walk everyday. Probably sounds like I'm pretty lazy. I really just don't like walking around the block when I know there's people out there, or walk on the treadmill when I have the feeling that someone is gonna sit there and watch me.

11- Make a new friend. Don't know who its gonna be, but this will be another challenge to get me out of my comfort zone. I don't know why its SO HARD! Is there anybody else out there that's shy like that?! Please don't make me feel like I'm alone. I know there are other people out there like that. But anyway, this should be a topic for another day.

 12- Find some new interest(s).

Alright! That's all I have to share publicly, and now that I've said them, well, looks like I gotta do 'em. I will try and document as much as possible and let you guys know what I did or didn't get done this summer.
Question this week: What things on this list do you think I won't accomplish by the end of summer? Do you make lists, or do you just go with the flow?
I hope you all are having a fabulous summer! I will be back next week with another blog post. Bye!

  1. Hi Annah,

You could try combining numbers 11 and 12 - maybe take a course or join a local group based around a particular activity you think you'd enjoy? Then you might discover a new interest you'd like to stick with, and potentially make new friends as well. It's always easier to make friends with people who share an interest with you. :) Or for number 11, you could maybe contact someone who writes a blog you like, and ask if they'd like to be pen-pals with you?

    Take care,

    Kate

  2. I just thought of something else...if you found something suitable, maybe you could try volunteering somewhere local, even if just a couple of hours a week? It could be a great way of increasing your confidence (and I say that as someone who also used to be really shy!), could help you find a new interest, and potentially also a new friend or at least some new friendly acquaintances! :) Maybe a local church runs some local volunteer projects or similar? 3. Hi Annah! Your list sounds a lot like mine always do! I love making lists. They help to keep me focused and it is good to look back later on and see just how much you have accomplished. I have just started to crochet - I learned years ago but have never really properly followed a pattern. I just finished my first project this week and I'm so pleased with it! I think your list is really great, what a good way to motivate yourself. I agree number 11 will probably be a big challenge, you are definitely not alone because I am very shy naturally too, I married when I was 16 and have never really had many close friends apart from my family so I find it very difficult to reach out to new people. That's why I like blogging! And especially reading blogs like yours, that have a different perspective on life from mine. It will be interesting to read how you get on reaching your goals, what a busy summer you have got ahead of you! I am sure you will achieve far more than you could ever imagine! Trust in the Lord and He will guide you. Love Ruby in England xxx .... Oh PS if you are interested in healthy eating, I have found a great new website, My Recipes.com, it has hundreds of free recipes and they give all the nutritional data plus shopping lists too, I really like it and have tried lots of recipes already. As you have a blog you won't even need to register as you can sign in with your Blogger account!

  4. Hi Annah! I did a reply yesterday but I think it got lost (I am not very good with computers).
I love lists! They are a great way to keep focused and motivated. I am always making them - not just for chores, but for plans and dreams too. It's nice to have a journal or pretty notebook to keep them all written down in, and so lovely to go back later and see what you have achieved. I think you have some great ideas - there is lots to accomplish here. I have just started crocheting - I have been meaning to teach myself for years, and finally just got around to following my very first pattern! I was so pleased with what I made (a pot holder! It took lots of attempts before it was done!). I think you are much more talented than me though! I agree number 11 will be a challenge - you are certainly not alone, I am very shy naturally and find it hard to reach out to new people, I married at 16 and really have never had any friends outside my family, so I do understand very well how difficult it can be. Just trust in the Lord and He will guide you, and don't feel pressured to go too far outside your "comfort zone", some people are just naturally retiring and prefer their own company - wouldn't it be boring if we had all been made the same! I think that is why some of us love blogging so much - it is so good to be able to "meet" people from all around the world from the safety of our own homes! I find your and Rebecca's blogs very inspiring - two young ladies with so much wisdom to share. I am looking forwards to hearing how you get on with your list this summer - I think you will achieve far more than you expected! Love from Ruby in England xxx

    1. Hi Ruby! Your comment didn't get lost. I just haven't looked at my email for a few days. I'm so sorry.
I'm so glad you're crocheting now! I love it so much. Not only making things for at home, but you can make very heartfelt gifts for other people.
Thank you for your encouragement about #11. Yes, God will bring the right friend at the right time. I don't need to stress about it.
Keep up the crocheting! Love, Annah
